Consultation on Bromley Local Plan Review ‘Direction of Travel’ (Regulation 18) Draft

Dear Member,

The London Borough of Bromley is reviewing the Bromley Local Plan. As part of this review, the Council is consulting on a Regulation 18 ‘Direction of Travel’ document. You are being contacted as your details are registered on our Planning Policy database and / or you have responded to a previous Bromley Local Plan review consultation.

The aim of the current consultation is to seek your views on the proposed vision and objectives for the new Local Plan and the preferred policy direction for the spatial strategy, housing, employment, retail and leisure, design and heritage, open space, social and strategy infrastructure, transport, sustainability and waste policies. This document does not contain draft policies.

This consultation follows a previous Regulation 18 ‘Issues and Options’ consultation which was conducted between April and June 2023; and a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise conducted in 2021 which invited submission of potential development sites for allocation. The Council has considered comments received in previous rounds of consultation and set out how these responses have informed the ‘Direction of Travel’ document in the accompanying consultation statement.

The Direction of Travel document is accompanied by the Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) Scoping Report, which sets the baseline of environmental, social and economic issues and the broad framework that will be used to assess the Local Plan. A range of evidence base documents have also been published. These documents have informed the policy direction and will inform future policy drafting.

The Bromley Local Plan ‘Direction of Travel’ document, IIA Scoping Report, Consultation Statement and evidence base documents can be viewed online at: www.bromley.gov.uk/localplanreview.

The Bromley Local Plan ‘Direction of Travel’ document and IIA Scoping Report can be viewed in hard copy at one of the 14 libraries in the borough; and at Bromley Civic Centre, by prior appointment only.
